Privacy Policy

We collect only the information needed to run a trades marketplace: what you tell us when you sign up, the job posts, bids, and messages you create, and basic technical logs that keep the service secure. We use it to connect homeowners with contractors and to keep the site working. We don't sell your personal data.

This page is written in plain language. It isn't a legal compliance statement, and we don't claim any certification we haven't actually verified.

Account and profile. Your email address, a credential for signing in, the role you chose (homeowner or contractor), and the profile details you add — for example your name or business name, contact information, trades or specialties, and the areas you serve.

Jobs, bids, and messages. The job details a homeowner submits (title, description, photos, budget, location, timing) and the bids a contractor submits (price, note, timing). Anything you write in a message between users is stored so the conversation works.

Payment onboarding and test payments. Payment features are sandbox testing only right now. For that we keep payout-account connection status and identifiers for test checkouts, charges, transfers, and their states. We never collect or store full card numbers — card details go to our payment provider, not to us.

Technical and security logs. When you use the site we record basics such as your IP address, device and browser type, which pages and features you used, when, the page you came from, error messages, and sign-in and security events such as password resets.

• to keep the service secure, spot abuse, spam, and fraud attempts, and investigate reported problems
• to fix bugs, measure reliability, and decide what to build next
• to keep records we're allowed or required to keep, and to respond to legal requests
• to contact you about your account, a job, or a material change to the service

The other side of a job sees what they need to see: a homeowner sees a contractor's business name, price, and note on a bid; a contractor sees the job details a homeowner posts. Access is controlled by database-level permission rules so people can only read the records they're allowed to.

We share information with a small number of service providers that process it for us:

• Supabase — our backend: authentication, database, file storage, and server-side functions. It's the system of record for account, job, bid, and message data.
• Stripe — used for payment onboarding and sandbox payment testing: contractor account connection, test checkouts, transfers, and payment status updates.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it's necessary to protect someone's safety, rights, or property.

Your marketplace data sits in our Supabase project, and payment-related data is processed by Stripe under Stripe's own privacy terms. The physical storage region depends on how those services are configured for our project; we haven't documented that publicly yet, so ask us if it matters to you and we'll check and confirm.

The site runs over an encrypted connection, and we store a sign-in session in your browser so you stay signed in. We don't run advertising trackers on this site.

We keep account, profile, job, bid, and message data while your account is open. A job post stays visible while it's open; once a job is awarded it's no longer shown publicly, and the winning bid stays attached to the job record. Security logs are kept for a limited period for safety and debugging rather than indefinitely.

You can ask us to update, correct, or delete your personal data, or to close your account, by emailing contractors@vanisletradeshub.ca. We'll do it where we're allowed to. Where we must keep something — for example a record needed for a legal, tax, or financial obligation — we'll tell you what and why, and keep it only as long as that reason lasts.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't rent it to advertisers or data brokers. We don't use it for anything beyond the purposes described on this page.

• edit most profile, job, and bid details yourself from your dashboard
• sign out of a device at any time, which ends that session
• ask us what personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it — we may need to confirm it's your account first
• ask us to delete your data or close your account, as described above

Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored as salted hashes rather than plain text, and access to records is restricted by permission rules in the database rather than by the browser. Fewer people have deeper access to production data, and payment secrets stay on the server. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.

The site is for adults and businesses hiring or performing construction work. We don't intend to collect personal data from children, and we aren't building the service for them.

We may update this page as the service changes. The effective date at the top shows the most recent version. If a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we'll try to give notice in the app or by email as well.
